Police chase ends in innocent death of Mother and seriously injured teenage daughter
A mother died and her daughter was severely injured at a traffic intersection in Dianella WA, when their car was hit by a police vehicle in pursuit following a stolen vehicle on Thursday. The accident took place in the northern suburbs of Perth ( Dianella) at the corner of the Morley and Alexander Drive around 11 in the morning.
The police were said to be pursuing a stolen Audi and ran through a red light and rammed into the car that was going through a green light. The victims of this police pursuit accident were taken to the nearby hospital immediately where the mother was declared dead and the daughter is facing severe injuries.
Two constables were pursuing a stolen grey Audi, registration 1CTJ439, when they hit the woman’s vehicle at 11am this morning
Commissioner O’Callaghan could not confirm if the pursuit was authorised at this time in the investigation. The commissioner commented “It is quite reasonable for police to engage in the pursuit of a stolen vehicle and we do it all the time,” he said.
