Australia Day is the official national day of Australia so to speak  ( in a way). Celebrated annually on 26 January, it commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet of britishers at Sydney Cove in 1788 and nothing to do with the aboriginals that were already living here for ages.

Here are just a few options on how you could celebrate Australia Day in perth.

· The City of Perth Skyworks ( in perth CBD)

Activities begin at 3pm at the City of Perth’s 29th annual Australia Day Skyworks, to be held at Langley Park.

· Fremantle’s Indian Ocean Skyshow ( in Freemantle city)

The fireworks, over Bathers Beach, will start at 8pm. (Mews Road and Warden Lane will be closed from 7pm to 9pm)

· City of Rockingham Australia Day Celebrations

The free event will be held at the Rockingham Foreshore between 11am and 3pm, with face-painting, airbrush tattooing, craft activities, giant games, a petting zoo and amusement rides.

· City of Bassendean Australia Day Fireworks

The celebrations begin at 5pm at Ashfield Reserve with live entertainment before the fireworks start at 8pm.
