2 Week Free Trial – BigPond Movies

BigPond Movies are giving you the chance to sample their DVD Rental Service by offering you a FREE 14 day Trial. Use your membership to access over 37 000 titles where you can browse and build a queue of DVD’s you’d like to see. It works like this; you select what DVD’s you’d like to see, then Big Pond Movies sends them out to you free. After you’ve finished watching them simply send them back in the return paid envelope provided, with no due dates and no late fees – ever.

Claimed DVD library size: over 18,000 titles to choose from, and many different genres – sport, music, documentaries, TV series, and movies. From my surfing through the various categories in the library this claim seems justified.

Pricing: Is cheaper if you sign up for a 12 month contract, and cheaper still if you’re a Bigpond internet service member. However remember that if you cancel a 12 month contract than early termination charges apply and the discount for being a Bigpond Internet customer isnt worth it because their service is poor and their pricing is far more expensive than

other quality Internet providers like Internode.View the the full Bigpond Movies pricing list.

Pros: No late fees. Good range of movies.
Cons: Once you have returned the movies it can take up to 4 or 5 days to recieve anymore. Which is a touch inconvient.
Overall: I think the main flaw in this way of renting is you never know what specific day you will get your movies. So if you need them by friday for a girls night in (for example) you a pretty unlikely to get them. On the other hand it is much cheaper. 8 movies a month for $30 when at the video store your paying over 5 dollars each, so you save a bit of cash.

Overall: You just mark on the internet the movies you want, it will show up in your “queue” and the waiting period for each movie, it will get marked when it has been posted, and when you post it back, you mark it off on your queue, you are only able to have 3 DVDs at a time, but they will send out another if you have posted 1 back. We signed up for a free trial, and loved the fact that the DVDs got posted to us promptly, and they come in a prepaid envelope to send back(which works well when we both work fulltime). We actually got rid of our movie channels on our foxtel package because with Bigpond we can choose what movies we want to watch, and it cost the same amount. We choose the $19.95 a month plan which give us 10 DVD’s. The people there are very helpful(they even called us when we had no movies on our queue) If they come damaged or don’t come at all you just mark that on your queue and they will send out another one.
